Am Not Coping

Re: Am Not Coping

It is a gorgeous day here too @Catcakes - I would love to be outside but can't be in the sunshine - even fully covered. I am hoping to get to the beach a little later today with Toby though. I haven't been for ages and really miss it but I have not been able to physically get there later in the day. I can't go any earlier in the day as one of the side effects of the meds I am on is photosensitivity - even fully covered the heat burns through my clothes Smiley Sad

Re: Am Not Coping

I used to play softball with twin sisters who were albino @Zoe7.
I always felt sad for them being so covered up but I suppose it was great they were participating in sport.

Re: Am Not Coping

I used to play softball too @Catcakes - played for 15 years until I injured my neck and was told to stop or risk more permanent damage Smiley Sad What position did you play?

Re: Am Not Coping

I was pitcher @Zoe7, but I also played outfield and had a huge throw. My neighbour / best friend and I practised most nights after school on the front lawn so we developed strong throwing arms. 😊

Re: Am Not Coping

I played centrefield until the last couple of years @Catcakes Then I was moved into shortstop to help with the younger kids coming up. I much preferred outfield though!

Re: Am Not Coping

My Mum was a softball player. We moved a lot with my Dad’s work, so the consistencies become part of coping .... and Mum played, captained, coached softball .... my Dad played, captained, coached baseball ..... and none of my siblings nor I were sporty ..... the genes skipped a generation, obviously.

Re: Am Not Coping

I loved my softball days @Zoe7... the smell of cut grass still takes me back, also the smell of leather.

Re: Am Not Coping

I knew your mum played softball @Faith-and-Hope we have talked about it a couple of times Smiley Very Happy

@Catcakes I had many injuries from the gravel infield - mostly from sliding lol My neck injuries were all from sliding also.

Re: Am Not Coping

My Mum broke several fingers ......

Re: Am Not Coping

We played on thick grass, infield and outfield. I always tell my girls how we were told not to shave our legs as hairs protected your shins when sliding.
Later uniforms covered the shins.
