Hi @utopia - it's not something small. They lost it, they stuffed up and should replace it. It's probably sitting down in the electrician's workshop under a pile of other things. I'm sure it will show up but you shouldn't have to ask four times about it. Put in a formal complaint and the director of nursing will see it. The nurses probably don't want to make the call to DON as they are scared of her. If she is anything like some of the DONs I have encountered they are probably justified in their fear. Just remember you are a patient in the private system which makes you like a customer in a hotel. Don't be afraid to ask for something. Don't stress too much about the other stuff - you're in hospital to get well and help you deal with the crap of the outside world. We've all got your back... take care and keep on getting better.

@utopia, I agree with @Former-Member. They have stuffed up and you are entitled to make a formal complaint. The hospital will be obliged to buy you a new hairdryer, if they can't locate yours. That is only fair.
However, maybe use this opportunity to practice deep breathing and mindfulness. I'm sorry if it sounds like I am trying to dismiss your pain over this! That is not my intention. I only don't want to see you upset.... you deserve so much to have some peace and serenity.
You are so right- outside in the real world, things go wrong all the time. The other day I mislaid my keys and then just yesterday our land-line wasn't working at home and I couldn't make the calls that I wanted to make. Frustrations are always waiting for us!! Frustrating things happen to everyone, though. Sometimes we forget this.... mishaps, lost things, delays and misunderstandings are very common in life.
Try to think of the borrowed hairdryer that the electrician gave you as a special blessing. I know it is not easy. You would much rather have your own hairdryer, I understand. I would too.
But right now, just in the moment, accept that some things really are out of your control.... but that you will be ok.

Hello @utopia
I hope they find it soon for you, it is shocking how long it's taken so far. Your supposed to feel safe there and yet your personal item is lost! I'm sure it will be found and if it's not you will be compensated. I know what it's like to focus on just one thing {bit of a problem of mine}, to me it feels like if just that one thing can be resolved it will make everything better - and often if it is I do feel generally better. But your right it is just a hair-dryer it can be replaced. Try to use the strategies that work for you to calm your mind. To me what's been lost is your belief in the safety of the place you have trusted with your health. Hospitals are busy places, keep reminding them 🙂
Lots of love to you
Niqua
