Re: Daily Achievements!

It was certainly an achievement for me today.

I completed my 72km for the Long Run Fundraiser today.  I've raised just over $1200 so far so it's a good achievement for the month as a whole.  Now to just how much further I can go during the last week of September.

The 72km is over the month of September.  The only way I go 72km in a day is if I drive 😁  I did it over 14 visits to the gym this month.  I tried to do 5km each time.

Re: Daily Achievements!

Hi @MJG017 I made my donation for The Long Run about 1 hour ago, so hopefully I found the right person and it goes towards you. If not, it is still going to a great cause.

Kindest regards

Re: Daily Achievements!

I really appreciate the support @Mustang67.  Don't worry, it all goes to the PCFA and the amazing work they do for all the guys and their families affected by this horrible disease.  We all thank you for your support.  It means a lot. 💜

Re: Daily Achievements!

@GreyWolf7 the main thing that stops the spasams is to sit down and take the weight off my back. A heat pack work probably help the general soreness I get when I have had a busy day, if only I could find it. But rubbing Rapigel on it helps. It is only supposed to be used on animals, but Chemist Warehouse have it in stock behind the prescription counter.

I used to follow the F1 when it first came to Adelaide. I think I went every year they were here. I loved feeling the vibration through your body as they zoomed past. But once we lost holding the race here, I lost interest.

I used to follow the MotoGP and Superbikes when I was married, as the husband was into bikes. And I loved going to Philip Island to watch the MotoGP. That year I spoiled myself and went VIP. I think I saw less of the race as we were above the pits in a marquee and watched most of the race on a big screen while drinking.  And every now and then I would go outside and watch them go past and then back to the drinking.  I had no idea who won the race in the end. Lol

Re: Daily Achievements!

@MJG017 Congratulations on what you were able to raise. That is an awesome effort 👏👏👏

Re: Daily Achievements!

@MJG017 I haven’t officially enquired yet, but have been told that for non urgent housing it could be a 9 month wait.

I spoke to one of my therapists today and she wants me to book an appointment with The Yellow Gate as they provide assistance with the housing for DomesticViolence victims. And apparently I could be entitled to a $5,000 payment to help with the moving costs etc. That would be nice.

This week is a hectic week for me, so I will make next week, my time to arrange the appointment with them, and also ring up TowardsHome to find out more information about them and what their process is.

I think once I am in a house, it would be easier for me to sell off my furniture. It is all solid wooden furniture.

And I always wanted a king sized bed, and I finally got one, and then was evicted 6 months later. But I definitely don't want it now, as when I was held against my will, the bed was where a lot of the bad stuff happened. So it has to go.at least this way, I can take my time to sell a piece and replace it with something different.

I am really feeling that October is going to be a positive month for me.

I have signed myself up for Trauma-Informed Yoga classes. Not really sure what it entails yet. But if it helps me in any way, I am there. And it is free through The Yellow Gate. So it's a win win.

Re: Daily Achievements!

@Mustang67

It would be great to get something quicker than 9 months, but if that what it takes then at least you'll be in the queue and know you'll be in your own place eventually.  The knowing its a 'when' not an 'if' should be a massive boost for you.

It definitely sounds like you have a good plan to move forward now, so hopefully its smooth sailing for a while.  The money to help with the moving costs would be a huge help, so hopefully that is an option for you.  Good luck with your appointments and I'm sure it will be great to feel like the ball is really moving.  Maybe note down any questions you think of that you want to ask as well.  I always forget half of mine in the moment when I'm there... I get so focussed on what I'm being told that I completely forget the things I want to ask.  Maybe that's just me though.  You may even find it helpful to have someone go with you as well if thats possible.  Just for a bit of support and remember stuff.  I akways like to take my partner when I got to big appointments, like big test results, because i just get so stressed I miss a lot of details of what they tell me.  And she always thinks of questions that I dont.

As you said, I think October is looking like a really good month for you as well.  Don't forget to take a deep breath and remind yourself how well you've done so far.  The yoga classes sound interesting being 'trauma informed'.  I'm not sure what that means, but it can only help.

I totally understand about the king sized bed!  If it wasn't for the money, I'd just suggest buring it!  It might be very cathartic.  But like I said... well done!  You definitely sound more hopeful and positive from when we first started chatting here.  I know there's still a lot to do and a lot to recover from and deal with, but you seem well on the way.  Keep taking good care of yourself, and keep us updated.
