It's hard @TAB . I'm not sure what I'll do after a colonoscopy (I've put it off for now).
Being in a regional area I guess it would be harder for you to find someone through a platform like Mable or Careseekers.
Here a lot of day surgery centres aren't attached to hospitals so overnight stay isn't an option.
When is your procedure,?

okay its a way off still , mid and late feb. @Dimity gastroscopy or whatever and cardioversion. staying o/nite after one and lying at other as person who picked me up last couple times refused to do it again ok the first time they rang them and let me walk out, second time they just let me walk out, so will be hoping they let me walk out again and get uber to motel then drive home next day. both these procedures are at hospitals although private. think medicare covers them. cost extra $50 to see gastro dr tho. was just trying to get updated iin the system from WA after moving to SA. she said not due for another colonosocopy for like 2 years, but as have GORD and not had done b4 plus age, decided to 'have a look' re procedure

That's rough re your support person pulling out @TAB .
IMHO there's something wrong with the system. There'd be a lot of people living alone - if they can't get medical treatment it feels like judgement or stigma when their lifestyle isn't always a choice.

I'll just put it back on them if things go pear-shaped at hosp @Dimity never not been allowed to leave no matter what they say re day procedures. left 3x usually do couple hours observation then let me get a cab. one time they got someone to walk to an uber and they even questioned the driver as to where I was going lol
basically no tmuch they can do. they dont have beds to keep you.

Thank you @Dimity what you said was very helpful.
I had a lovely social distraction this morning and I was struggling to regain focus.
I login to the Forum, like I always do before tackling the rest of my day, and there is your post.
You are like my very own Personal Assistant keeping me on track. I really needed that right now.
I really appreciate you taking the time to do that for me 🌻
