Re: Riding a wave

@Zoe7 ROFL!!!!! That picture is SO me. Smiley LOL

I am feeling sad now because I simply could not get the student over the line. As much as I joke about the rather odd face-palming responses that I read, I would strongly prefer not to fail anyone. It makes me feel sad because I know how sad they are likely to be. However, I can see that there comes a point where it would be unethical to pass them. At a more selfish level, it also stresses me out because it means the lecturer will review the paper and that makes me feel like I am the one being assessed. Smiley Happy

Re: Riding a wave

Hey @Phoenix_Rising I do understand it is disheartening to have to 'fail' someone but if a student 'doesn't get it' then they need to know that there is an area that they need to work on. Think about all the psychologists you have seen (and no I am not joking with you for a change!) If this student had been one of those would you 'pass' them? It is not about 'failing' the student per se it is about failing the work they have produced - and that can be fixed with extra help on the subject/topic/question (whatever it is).

In regards to the lecturer - I would look at it in completely the opposite way - it really isn't you that should be thought of as being assessed as you have only marked the paper - instead the lecturer should be looking at themselves, their content and delivery and asking themselves if there is a way they can improve so students such as this one have a better understanding. That's my take on it anyway little turtle Smiley Happy

Re: Riding a wave

Goodnight little turtle @Phoenix_Rising I'm heading off early tonight so thought I'd get in first Smiley Happy (ps I am in the underwater cave - in the Comfy Cave tonight but you probably won't see me at all because I am absolutely exhausted and am going to hide under the giraffes!)

Re: Riding a wave

@Zoe7 I super love the fact that you are so exhausted because I am super hoping that that means you will sleep ok tonight. Night Zoe7. Smiley Happy

Re: Riding a wave

@Former-Member I super like that you are watching over the ocean tonight. I have some big feelings. Weekends are super hard because I know you guys aren't around. But you will come back on Monday...and that isn't so far away.

@CheerBear I am going to snuggle into my shell now in your pocket while you snuggle in your blanket in your nest in the inner sanctum in the underwater cave allllllllllllllllllllllll the way at the bottom of the ocean.

Night. Smiley Happy

Night @Phoenix_Rising 🙂

Oh I almost forgot something (ignoring the do not disturb sign sorry!). My awesome but totally impractical way too small handbag that I have had for ages, broke 😞 On my random adventure today I had to get a new one and I had a very funny moment in the shop assessing the pockets for size 😛 It has plenty of great hiding spaces (and it is black with spikes on the outside - so cool!).

Hope you sleep well.

Ps. Good night @Former-Member. I heard that @Former-Member is arranging a trip to Thailand for all the baby moderators so that they can learn to speak turtle. At least...I think that's what she said. Smiley Happy
