๐Ÿ‹ Sad whale story

Iโ€™m a bit sad and disappointed in something that has happened locally to me. I think it is a disregard for nature and animals in their own home.

A whale washed up on a beach near us about 3 weeks ago, they couldnโ€™t remove it department of enviro said no, I also this was partly because somebody removed the tail so they could tow it in.
The Department of Eviro said let it decompose yes stinks but could take at least a few months including over summer and peak tourism. This area gets very busy from Oct - April. The community
lobbied and it got removed on Thursday.
Deeca cut it up and then removed it.
The community lobbied because they felt it was impacting community members access to the beach (lots of other beaches to access that werenโ€™t closed) and businesses).

It made me sad, I felt like where is the respect for nature and the animal to naturally pass in its resting place.
It is part of the sea and nature.
Where is the respect for that poor animal. It would be cut up and throw into the landfil. Traditionally there may be a lot of other uses for this animal, without needing to cut up by a man in a hazmat suit and transported to a rubbish tip.

Whales are culturally significant to lots of people, including the Gadigal people and Darkinyung people

When do we stop putting $ and tourism before living things in their home
