Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

@Fracturedlight As trust is a big issue with me, I still have not got to the stage where I trust her to hand her my writing. I have shown her a couple of bits in my book that I have written words in that I see or hear (a poem and lyrics to one song) but I kept hold of the book and just let her read them! She said that was fine, and that I could let her or someone else read things only when I was ready and that she would know that I have learnt to trust her fully when I am prepared to let her actually hold one of my books. I did let her take monkey to look at though

@Former-Member  I haven’t heard of MBT before.

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

@BlueBay We are seeing some changes starting to happen in other states in Australia, such as their own statewide, public, personality disorder services. One of the other things gathering momentum is lobbying for change to the Better Access medicare scheme, lobbying the government to fund up to 40 sessions per year to access private psychologists for BPD treatment. Hopefully we see further changes via the Victorian Royal Commission also.

@JulianSpectrum

I think if u raise your kid the exact same way u were raised your child has a strong chance of developing it.

My mother was a very unhappy person who took her unhappiness out on her kids & my father abandoned his kids by being an alcoholic.

I refused to have a child until i found what made me happy for fear of becoming my mother.

I think genetics are more colour of hair body structure.

Thats just my personal opinion tho.

My son is quite sensitive & i noticed this from a young age so i nurtured him accordingly.

He didnt sleep unless i lay next to him. I had a friend who said just leave him cry he will soon learn. However i couldnt do that possibly cause im sensitive & related to his needs?

I think that abandoning issue i have comes from being emotionally neglected totally as a child.

I wanted to run away from home age 10. My son first day of highsch wanted to sleep in bed with me cause he felt overwelmed. I let him didnt judge him & he returned to his room next night. I met his emotional need which gave him clearly all he needed

Nor had I @BlueBay I will definitely be looking into it though, and I think we should continue discussing new therapies like this across the community Heart It's amazing the skills some practitioner's are equipped with out there 🙂

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

@JulianSpectrum It would be great if you could get funded for the number of treatment sessions you need, rather than just be told you can have 10 and that's it. That is not enough time to get used to someone, learn to trust them, and get treatment

@cutiepiekitty you will know when you are ready. I did it backwards I didn't want to talk so would and still do just sit there. The only way she has been able to understand what's really going on has been through my writing and poetry. We all have our own unique way of communicating to be heard until our trust can be gained. Keep writing!!

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

@Former-Member  Is it poss to put something on the forum about MBT?

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

My apologies @BlueBay - I misread your post and thought you were in DBT at the moment. Like many therapies DBT can be tough at times! If it didn't work too well for you there might be other approaches that are a better match, or perhaps it just wasn't the right time then. When it comes to setbacks in recovery I like Dory's advice from Finding Nemo: 'just keep swimming' Smiley Very Happy

Took me til my 40's to accept i just had to accept the way they were. They were just incapable of loving & caring.
