I bought the book because it meant so much to me. There is a second part which is focused on recovery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VRRx7Mtep8
The metaphor of the black dog is so real. In my life, I've had to continually tell myself, "If I feed the black dog, it will continue growing. I need to starve the black dog and feed the white dog". This is something I was first taught through therapy. It's probably less socially-acceptable nowadays.
I urge you to continue hanging in there. There is a life worth waiting for.
Honestly, I never thought I'd make it past my 25th bday as I was living on the edge of death. Yet over 10 years on, I'm still here, and life is so much better.
