The metaphor of the black dog is so real. In my life, I've had to continually tell myself, "If I feed the black dog, it will continue growing. I need to starve the black dog and feed the white dog". This is something I was first taught through therapy. It's probably less socially-acceptable nowadays.

 

I urge you to continue hanging in there. There is a life worth waiting for.
