Over it

Hi all

I have suffered with anxiety and panic attacks since I was 17 years old , I am now 47. I have been on anti depressants for 12 years. I have had some extremely low times but then can go months or even years with not one panic attack. I have been diagnosed with health anxiety, so I feel like something is wrong with me and waiting for something bad to happen to me.  Basically I think I'm going to die every 5

seconds. Lately I feel nothing is working, my continuous anxiety is becoming tiring and I don't know how to cope anymore. Help

Re: Over it

Hi there @Goosie and welcome to the forums, glad you found us! I'm really sorry to hear that panic attacks have reared up again, they are soooo gnarly to have to deal with. Do you think there's anything that's been happening in your life lately that might have brought em on? Any big changes or some way that your needs aren't being met?

I hope that finding some connection and support here can be helpful for you. Is there anything in particular you feel that this community can help you with? It's okay if you don't know, sometimes the answer is just 'a safe space to talk'. And we'll always be here to listen 😊💜

Re: Over it

Hi @Goosie, welcome to the group.  That sounds so stressful!  I'm currently going through health issues of my own at them moment.  Obviously it's not a case of health anxiety because I have been diagnosed with a serious illness but it brings sooo many unknowns and I've really struggled since December last year dealing with the anxiety of those big unknowns.  It resulted in the worst time in my life at the start of they year.  But even with that I have a lot of knowns as well, but I can see just how difficult it would be to be so anxious about only unknowns with health anxiety.  There's nothing to bring your mind back to a known fact about an illness to centre your thoughts.

I wish I had some advice for you.  What have you already tried to try and quiet this anxiety?  Is there something that has changed that you feel may have triggered this latest attack?

Re: Over it

Hi @Goosie

im new here too, also your age, and started my year with anxiety the likes of which I didn’t know existed. I think everyone who keeps going through that is very courageous. And I absolutely hear how exhausting it is - even with coping strategies and meds and all that courage.

How are you going now?

Re: Over it

Hi there @Semly @Goosie ,

Hope you are well.

Re: Over it

Hi @tyme 👋
I’m lurking around and exploring the threads. Sitting in bed with a sleeping kiddo on one arm, which is amazing.
How are you?

Re: Over it

I've got 2 kiddos next to me. One is doing homework and the other is reading... @Semly

It's lovely to cuddle up with them. How old is your kiddo?

Re: Over it

Hi @tyme

the one cuddled up with me is 5; she’s the littlest. I can hear her big sister (11) chatting with her dad in the living room, and her big brother 14 is … quiet … probably on a device of some kind.

Yay you and yours for them homework-ing. How old are they?

Re: Over it

They are my nibblings @Semly

My nieces are 8 and 4 and my nephew is 6.

They live next door to me, but I'm at their house at the moment. They were out so I 'borrowed' their house for a change of scenery. Then they came home so they are sitting with me.

I am very close to these kids. They are like my own, but I generally get to hand them back (unless they sleep in my bed!)

Re: Over it

Hi There

I have had an ok few weeks. I went back to my go and she upped my meds but I stopped because it was making me feel worse. I also went back on a mental health plan but I refuse to be out of pocket for my counselling again after paying out literally 1000s over the last 3 weeks. I was hoping there was a chat room where we could chat to people in real time.

I..sorry you have experienced anxiety this year. It really is the pits xx
