The great yoga adventure

Re: The great yoga adventure

Hi @Shaz51, @Former-Member, @soul@Phoenix_Rising and all yogi bears,

Shaz, looks like we Scottish sisters are going at it at about the same pace. Happy we are both doing this. Smiley Happy Heart

Lauz, glad you are joining us too. Smiley Happy

Soul, cool cartoon. Smiley Happy

Phoenix, I'm so curious about your big adventure. 🙂

Yes, I was a child today. And I did the pose too. Smiley LOL I have adopted the arms out in front version of the pose, got down further towards heels today. Something also moved in my torso while I was in the pose and suddenly my arms stretched out a lot further, in a good way. And I also treed, number 7, equivalent to a week of doing that pose. I think I will keep it in my home routine. My tree pose today was much better than when I started I think. I'm still a bit wobbly but I concentrated more today, both on the balance of the pose and breathing in it. I tried to breathe as freely as possible. Is that what you are meant to do? Or is it breathing to a count? I wonder. Meanwhile, in my (clearly improvised) home yoga, I also held the poses longer today than I have previously. It was a little more strenuous that way. I also felt physically better for that after doing each pose.

Blessings on all yoga children. As @aButterfly would say, namaste. Heart

Re: The great yoga adventure

Just a tip @Mazarita, your outward breath should assist you in deepening the pose. You don't have to count during breaths. Just breathe at a comfortable pace. As you hold the pose for longer, you will probably find that your breathing becomes slower and you become more relaxed.

Namaste to you too.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Thanks, @soul. I appreciate your help. It did feel like the extra stretch happened when I breathed out. I will keep it in mind.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good morning everybody, I have already been a child today. I am still bouncing off the walls with the excitement of my big adventure and child-ing super helped me to find my calm a bit. Oh and as an aside, the carpet in the hotel is softer than my carpet at home and it felt super nice standing on my head, on it. Smiley Very Happy

@soul I super love how enthusiastic you are about your yoga adventures.

@Mazarita Hooray for tree number seven!!!!! Here is a super excited tree to help you celebrate. Smiley Very Happy

@Mazarita, as Soul said, you don't need to count your breathing. I think the trick is to be aware of it, focusing on when you are inhaling and exhaling. This is the idea of mindfulness. It bugs me a bit that the concept of mindfulness is the "in" thing in psychology at the moment and thus the term often gets tossed around without being explained well. Being mindful simply means being fully focused on the present moment. In yoga, that means focusing on your breathing and the feel of your own body.

It is really cool that you are noticing that you are less wobbly. I find focusing on my balance super calming (again, because it requires full focus and thus it is technically impossible to be thinking about other things like my muddles).

Ok, well I doubt I will re-appear on here again today, but I look forward to hearing about everybody's efforts at being children. Look @NikNik, we built a kindergarten in Forum Land. Smiley LOL

Have fun being children @Mazarita @soul @Former-Member @Former-Member @Shaz51 @CheerBear @TheVorticon @Ant7 @Adge @Former-Member and all those other yogis that I just know I've forgotten. BTW @Mazarita had you really never thought of yogi bear when you heard the term "yogi" before I mentioned it? That makes me giggle a lot, given that every single time I see or hear the word, in my brain I hear yogi bear saying "yogi yogi bear." Smiley LOL

@Anony18
Here is the yoga thread that @Shaz51 and @soul referred to. I am sure @Phoenix_Rising and the yogi bears would love to hear about your goat yoghurt session after you have done it in November.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Have fun being children --- I did mine today too @Phoenix_Rising Smiley Happy

Re: The great yoga adventure

Glad you are having a great time at your mystery location doing mysterious things @Phoenix_Rising.

I'm looking forward to another yoga class followed by a Mediatation workshop tonight.

Here's to all you people who are children at heart.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Hi everyone 👋💟

Yes, I've been a child every day @Phoenix_Rising 😂👍
The bones in my knees hurt when I do the pose, not sure why. Never used to.

Super duper to hear you've been on an adventure. 💟
