Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I threw myself into study and sport from a young age @eudemonism - I had some really good teachers (and some not so good ones lol) but on the whole they were good. I never wanted to be a teacher myself but after a trip overseas I decided that is the direction I wanted to take and enrolled in the course when I returned from travelling. I am glad I did - just feeling a little down and useless tonight - hope that will pass over the weekend.

I hear you on not having people in your life that you trust - similar for me too. Everytime I think there are those that I could develop trust in they seem to let me down so it is easier to not tell anyone anything or trust them to know anything. Life may suck that way but it is self-protection.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I am not sure what to do about resent. @eudemonism

I had a guy therapist once say I had lots of resent, but it was at a time when I really did not feel resentful.I had travelled for a year, had many good jobs and gotten into a good uni.  It was 30 years ago  I think what he meant was that I had a lot of reasons to feel resent for my childhood.  For last 20 years I have felt a fair bit.  Resent has come and gone.  The targets of my anger has shifted with time.  Resent is often referred to as anger that has hardened.  I had to get in touch with my anger, understand what reasonable expectations were, feel the rage, and learn not to express is destructively, but still find to get it out.   I had to shake it about and thaw it out. Now I can say I had resent.  It has taught me who I can trust and who I cannot.  I aimed it pretty generally at the middle classes which then presented a great obstacle for me making new friends.  Gradually I have learned to hone my understanding and so I dont make such sweeping generalisations, or if I do I make them with a little hu mour so that I dont put everybody offside.

Have you found any good links on resent?

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Yea @Zoe7 i think I'd work as a fisheries officer or parks and wildlife ranger if i had a choice. I would of been so good and capable for these roles. However it's not how my story goes. Messed around with alcohol and drugs, got up to no good and made mistakes.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Yea @Sophia1 all i can really do is try to make a little progress everyday...
I hope everything is going well for yourself and the family...

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Yea i have @Appleblossom but i didn't save them. I looked up people who play victim and the blame game. I will hopefully read through them at some stage.
