Re: 😭

@Blackcloud honestly it's such a big life skill, it baffles me that it's not a bigger part of our education system!! Literally 'Basic Life Maintenance' would have been amaaaaazing.

Have you watched cooking tutorials and stuff at all?

Re: 😭

@Blackcloud haha don't worry, the first few dishes i made (and even the ones i made recently) tend to look better than they taste 😆 i'm sure you'll get the hang of it with practice tho, it's great first dish!!

things are going okay! i'm starting to recover from being sick so still a bit sluggish, but overall surviving. how are you going today? got anything you're looking forward to this week?

Re: 😭

@Jynx nope i dont rely on cooking tutorial videos. ive never thought watching vids of those would or might be useful for my cooking, but i do find that only relying on the recipe to be more helpful (at least for me) along the way while being in the process of it.

@rav3n i'm glad you're recovering and surviving!! being sick is definitely not a great thing for us to experience does it? 😕

I just had a webinar information session with the Lifeline Digital Crisis Supporter Volunteer Team just then, and the staff there all seem like such lovely people to work with!

I was able to learn some interesting stuff from the presentation regarding what we need to do in the role and what we don't do. 🙂

The training for me starts on June 2nd, and its self-paced - goes for 8-12 weeks. Then after that you have the placement training which im not really sure how long that goes for? i think it was 3 months? i could be wrong though lol, and then after that you get into the actual volunteering which they recommend you commit to at least 4 hours of volunteering per fortnight (you can do 4 hours per week as well as they've mentioned that that option is highly recommended to help you boost your skills)

Re: 😭

Feel like following a recipe video would be no fun @Blackcloud ahaha I was imagining more like, cooking skills and knowledge and stuff!! Like for example browning chicken in a pan - took me way too long to learn that the key is to not over-crowd the pan so the juices can properly evaporate!!

That one took me WAY too long lol

Re: 😭

@Jynx OHHHH haha, I see! I mainly get the tips and tricks relation to cooking/meal prep from my OT and support worker anyways so I think that's more than enough for me to rely on and perform my cooking duties 😄

Off topic but with art therapy, I was just looking onto the masters degree based on that career at one of the unis here, and I've find that one of the requirements on that require you to have some experience with counselling or community work for at least 1 year (voluntary or paid), but if you dont meet that requirement then they allow you to take a short counselling course for the time being lol.

Since I plan on pursuing a psych and mental health degree soon, I guess that may as well count who knows lol xD

Re: 😭

@Blackcloud oh that's even better!! I always learn better with hands on/face-to-face than tryna learn from a video!!

Oooh that sounds dope!! Definitely gotta double check to see what courses would count tho!! Friend of mine paid thousands to study this particular course only to find out later it was unaccredited and basically useless!
