Hearing you @tyme I never wanted kids and it worked out that I would not be able to anyway without a whole lot of intervention (and it could still probably end in heart ache). I think, for some, part of a trauma background gives us a different perspective on bringing little people into this world.
It was only yesterday that I said to my Mum "I still cannot believe I have a dog and Toby is 10 now". She agreed. When I lost my first cat I was devastated then Cat came into my life very soon afterwards (so was meant to be). I still cannot believe she is gone (I still have her blanket and cushion on one chair she used the most). It is one place Clover has never gone near so she also must know how important it is to me. My Mum is worried about what will happen when I lose Toby - I try not to think about it as he is my world - but he is getting older and I will not have him for ever. I do know you won't see me here for some time when that does happen - life will be so different and I will have to find a way to cope (hopefully).

We used to go on regular Sunday trips to Bunnings @ArraDreaming I would wheel Tobes around in the trolley then get 2 sausages - one without onion for Tobes. We would sit on the grass and I would break his up and feed him a little at a time - I would always ask for the coldest sausage for him so it would not burn his little mouth lol

Yeah, the doggy policy at hammerbarn has been around for about 7 years. You are allowed as long as they are on a leash, not annoying people or other animals and not destroying things. @ArraDreaming

Longer than that here @tyme I have been taking Toby since he was a puppy. I think he was only 4 months old the first time I took him - as soon as his first round of vaccinations were complete. We could also just sit them in the trolley until a few years ago. Now they are supposed to be on a leash in the trolley but I sometimes forget (and get away with it - maybe because they know us so well and don't look closely enough).
@ArraDreaming He is absolutely my world. I take him everywhere but work. I even go to shopping centres much, much further away so I can park in the undercover and shade for a few minutes to run into a shop. I won't leave him in the car in any heat but luckily I am in Tassie and it is usually cold lol
