Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

aha you beat me to it @Smc!

I'll have some chocolate pudding with my sticky date Smiley Very Happy

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Former-Member, I used to love sticky date pudding from a special cafe in the city I used to live. It was huge and drowned in sauce. It really took two people to eat it. It was almost addictive! These days I rarely eat dessert, just through lack of interest. Mainly I might have a small tub of strawberry greek yoghurt. Smiley Happy

@Shaz51, there's also a special brand of scotch shortbreak biscuit that I love, my scotirish sister. What's a typical Irish food? Maybe, in the old days, stew and potatoes? I like that too. Smiley Happy

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Yum, sounds delicous @Mazarita!

I imagine the Irish would have some great comfort dishes. Lots of potatoes and cold weather!

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Yeah, Irish Stew is a bit of a classic @Mazarita. Maybe with some nice home cooked bread on the side. 🙂

@Former-Member, Sticky Date is nice too, but not one I've ever gotten into the habit of cooking. I reduce the sugar in my home cooked puds a bit, so that they're not complete richness overload. I'll often add fruit too. If you chop up pears or apples into the bottom of the self saucing pud dish, then put the batter and sauce over the top of it as per the usual recipe, you get lovely stewed chocolatey fruit with the pud when you scoop it out. 🙂

May have to see if I can get myself organised to make some while our daughter's friend is staying. That would earn me a few extra mum-brownie-points. 😄

Sleep well all. Am really off to bed now.

Night @Smc!

I usually rely on others to make my dessert, but have attempted sticky date a few times. The fruit in the bottom sounds like a great idea.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Yes, the cold Irish weather, @Former-Member, @Shaz51 I do love potatoes. Maybe that's part of the Irish ancestry. Mashed potatoes is excellent comfort food too, especially with a nice gravy, but good just as is too. Smiley Happy

@Smc, I really enjoyed talking about comfort food, your suggestion if I remember. Your fruit pudding sounds so nice. Hope you sleep well. Smiley Happy

Hi @Jacques, always good to see you, brother. This week was hard but I pushed myself beyond my usual tolerance to good result, so I'm glad now that it's over. May your sleep be better very soon. Hugs to you too.
