Re: Keeping Happy.

@Clawde

Great approach to self care.

I hear you about living in strange and disturbing times.  We will definitely need strength to manage things to come.  Be prepared.... but its hard to know exactly what will happen.

Re: Keeping Happy.

Hello @Clawde , @Appleblossom , @Emelia8 , @greenpea , @TAB

and other visitors to this thread

I have taken the liberty of re-wording your question @Clawde , in order for me to feel able to appropriately respond to the question. My response must necessarily be qualified, in as much as my own experience and knowledge, is limited to that of Community Guide.

I have offered my response in the "Henry's Landing Strip and Hangar" thread, because I do not wish to overload this thread.

The question follows:

Only one question if it's OK to ask please? What is the difference in the role, expectation of, and requirements for interaction with other members of the forum, when speaking from different levels of classification within the forum structure.

How are those requirements reflected in the way that you can interact with others on the forum, in those different classification levels. Examples of categories or classification within the forum structure are;

Contributor, Senior Contributor, Community Guide, Community Elder, Moderator, and Peer Support Person.

Can you describe how responding to those expectations feels please? What is it like for you, how do you feel about it? Can you still talk with no rules, and no expectations? Anyone else want to share? Enlighten Clawde please feel free to type a response.”

With My Best Wishes

@HenryX

Re: Keeping Happy.

Great Q's @Clawde! Like @Former-Member suggested with their reply to you @Clawde on another thread -

"Just be yourself. Chat about whatever you like, as long as it's within the guidelines

We are all equal and no one is more important than anyone else. That's my view." - MUMI

I too would like to encourage you just to be yourself, each person has their own personality & personal take on things & experiences had, if it's in line with the guidelines. No problem Smiley Happy

Yes, to clarify also something @Appleblossom touched on earlier, there is a difference in that peer support workers are paid staff at SANE but we still need to also respect the values & behaviours that are outlined in the guidelines. Heart

Re: Keeping Happy.

Hey @Clawde to summarise each role:

Each member has a 'rank' based on how many times they have posted:

  • New Contributor - no posts
  • Casual Contributor - 3 posts
  • Contributor - 10 posts
  • Senior Contributor - 30 posts
  • Community Guide - Volunteer long time members (not always long term nowadays so that may need to be changed in our guidelines)
  • Community Elder - Members who have undertaken the role of a Community Guide in the past

Peer Suport Workers and Moderators are paid to maintain safety and connection on the forums. Moderators have generally been 'behind the scenes' people that are not active in the forums unless there is a conflict or safety issue that they need to intervene in - this is changing with them having a more active role in discussions.

The role of Peer Support Workers is to actively participate in discussions and support members. They have their own Lived Experience to draw on and to relate to members with similar experiences.

Community Managers (of which we only have one at present) oversea the general running of the forums. They are responsible for developing/maintaining/reviewing the Community Guidelines and reviewing all discussions/posts to make sure they adhere to the Community Guidelines. They also organise Special Events on the forums ie Topic Tuesday.

Whatever the 'rank' or position - all participants in the forum are expected to adhere to our Community Guidelines.

Speaking from a Community Guide erspective - we are expected to give of 2 hours of our time here per week and are able to access off-site support and training in the peer support area. It is generally required that we respond to new members but that is also a personal preference as not everyone can relate to the topic/issue/member the same way or with the same/similar experience.

You certainly do not have to spell properly nor are you required to respond to certain threads/discussions - that is an individual preference. It is expected though that you practice good self-care and sometimes that means avoiding certain topics/threads that may be triggering or difficult to participate in.

So whilst Community Guides have some additional means of support, their contribution is entirely their choice - maintaining adherence to the Community Guidelines.

Hope that helps clarify how it all works a little Smiley Happy
