Riding a wave

Re: Riding a wave

@CheerBear I was wondering about that - i.e. versions of bigness. So so so so so SO hard. Yep, we've got this.

Re: Riding a wave

@Phoenix_Rising thinking of you, hoping you can find some peace somewhere, somehow. It is possible you are not the only person this has happened to, not that it would make you feel any better about it having happened.

Phoenix_Rising, when the rest of the forum is too awful but you'd like some company, maybe you could come live over in Craft Corner with your crochet and a few of us for awhile and let the rest of everything pass on by. You're doing awesomely with your crochet.

You were right, having a wee turtle, a carebear and a catcake in my project bag yesterday certainly did help me get through it all. Smiley LOL

Thank you for your eye wishes - I get migraines from too bright light, so I obviously wasnt' thinking when I opened that door!

Being read to by TTT sounds awesome.

OOOH, extra yarn to play with!!! ever so nice. What did you get????? colours, types of yarn?

Photos please ... and label if there is one..... (of course ony if you want to)

I'm really pitiful, I just love yarn, fabric and books. I can get excited about other people's finds and happy moments and am so glad for them. Woman LOL

Look after you tonight -and every other day and night too - liltle turtle. Rest well when you do.

Re: Riding a wave

Feeling crappy myself @Phoenix_Rising.
I am boycotting HC in your honour

Re: Riding a wave

Thanks @Former-Member,

Sadly I do know that I'm the only person this has happened to - they told me. Smiley SadSmiley SadSmiley Sad

The balls of yarn don't have labels. One is blue and the other is purple. The purple one is quite thick. So...the thickness of the yarn dictates the size hook to use, is that right? See I thought the different sized hooks were for making different sized stitches. Smiley Very Happy

Re: Riding a wave

So wishing we could talk talk sometimes @Phoenix_Rising. Inside feelings probably right (rarely wrong) ☺ Totally gottable (understanding how super hard it is though).

I'm going to head off and play socks I think. I'm sore and need blanket and quiet tonight.

So happy to see you around, even though it's hard.

Night ☺

@Catcakes I superly duperly appreciate the support, but that probably isn't helpful. It means a lot to me that they are ok with me talking about it here in Forum Land - I can't imagine that is particularly easy for them. I'm scared they might take that away from me if they feel my talking about it will discourage others from using what truly is an amazing service.

Re: Riding a wave

I so so so badly wish I had someone to talk talk to right now. I feel utterly utterly utterly alone.

@SleepyPanda if you are working tonight can you please check in on the ocean even though I'll be asleep by then?

Night Forum Land.

Re: Riding a wave

The socks were for my S1 @CheerBear .... before D1 and D2 arrived within the two years and making socks slid right off the table there for a long while .....

He was little, so the socks were little .... and fun to make .... but I am glad they weren’t big fun-to-make socks ..... and I am glad I didn’t have to spend 30-odd years making socks for everybody in my family ..... it wouldn’t have left much time or energy for anything else, that’s for sure .....

At the moment I am stitching some of my old knitted scarves together to make a throw-rug for the loungeroom.  It’s sort of a cheat way to feel like I am being crafty ..... but I did knit the scarves in the first place, so it counts ......

And I have bought some balls of wool and a crocheting hook that are staring at me from a basket in my room every time I walk past ..... so that is all part of my plan to stay art-grounded, even when I feel like a hot air balloon that could just float off somewhere.  I am trying to dig in here and feel like I will be okay.

Making a scarf blanket is helping that feeling .....

When the scales are feeling like this -

I am trying to load the other side with self-care stuff to make them feel more like this -

Re: Riding a wave

@Phoenix_Rising tthat is soo  soo sooo hard for you.

We have to help each other, that is all there is to it.

My plan is to start on the DBT reading proper next week, what with low flying objects whacking me between the eyes this last week (all the buses, trains and other wheeled vehicles were occupied I think), I have not had a chance to open the books other than to admire a few verses here and there.

Yarn: Yes, the size of the yarn can dictate the size of the hook, but when you get tricksy with lacey stuff, you can use a bigger hook with a thinner yarn to get holey stuff for a lacey finish. Cool hey.

Purple and blue. *nods* Ocean and sky colours ...

If you can photo them for me, with the end loose off to the side, (if you want to no pressure) I might be able to identify some aspects of it for you, or ifn' you need to , there are other ways to tell the size of the yarn too. We won't get into too  much right now though.

@CheerBear wish I could help re the stuff over ---------> there, but my experiences are pre the latest changes, I guess though you'd have a current certificate for this surgery taht should slow them down a wee bit til you get more info.

@Catcakes so sorry you're not feeling too good. Hope things get better very soon. (((( @Catcakes ))))

Re: Riding a wave

Way to go @Faith-and-Hope! Interested in your crochet adventure ... if I may ask ... have you any plans for a project yet, or is it sitting there trying to work out what it's going to become? I have yarn like that, too pretty to stay in the shop, but not sure what it's going to be, it takes a while sometimes for yarn to develop it's personality properly. Smiley LOL

Imagine when all the socks for all the family were done by hand Smiley Surprised, the cooking too, and the sewing, so many chores, many of which we can now call relaxing crafts. How times change.

waiting for your scales image to come through. Have a pleasant night @Faith-and-Hope @CheerBear @Phoenix_Rising @Catcakes @Former-Member @SleepyPanda
