OK
I'm an older ex RAAF veteran
I have PTSD Depression and anxiety from my service and I am also badly dyslexic
Sadly this makes trying to deal with DVA a total nightmare for me
I'm currently on a DVA ban and contact restrictions because I broke the DVA "Mutual Respect Agreement" I was angry after having my pension cut off and DVA staff breaking every rule they set for themselves in their own Mutual Respect Agreement. I used a profanity that is allowed on TV after 8PM and is in common usage in society and because of my PTSD I used that word in a military tone, unacceptable to DVA.
As I am not allowed to contact DVA or Open Arms and as Sane is in partnership with DVA and Open Arms I am hoping to get some actual assistance.
After 4 years trying to get someone to help deal with the problem rather than just talk about the problem some actual help would be appreciated.
My psychiatrists described the issue as being "Like lying beside a road with a broken leg, all the counselling in the world won't fix the broken leg and stop the pain. You need someone to splint the leg and get you to hospital to have the leg fixed. THEN once the doctors have set your leg then you can have someone talk to you about how painful the experience was"
I really don't need people to talk to, I need practical people who can offer actual help.
Sorry if this sounds negative or demanding but that is my situation.

Hi @MamiyaFan
Welcome to the forums.
Your post doesn't sound demanding, it sounds like you have a pretty clear idea of the support that you're needing which is a great starting point. Because of this I did want to clarify so that we're helping you get the support that you need: What does getting actual help with this problem look like for you? When we're talking about the 'problem' are we discussing your diagnosis, or the difficulties that you've had with other supports so far? I apologise if this seems an obvious question, but I always like to double check, rather than assuming.

We aren't all veterans here, with veterans' problems, @MamiyaFan . But in terms of that statement about needing actual help, a great many of us are in the exact same boat as yourself! 👍🤗

Hi 👋🏼 @MamiyaFan I’m dyslexic + anxiety ADHD and PTSD.
LOVE your psychiatrist’s broken leg metaphor. - Perfectly said.
Ahh the omnipotent power of the DVA. Where bad public sector management finishes it’s career, abiding with a set of rules for themselves and another set for the general public.
Hand on heart, I hope SANE comes through for you.

I replied to your post
It took me about 2 hours
I have just been told it's been removed
It's not been a good day for me and no one seems to know what's going on
I just need some help dealing with DVA and resolving a simple problem they caused
Cheers [edited by moderator]
