Lost

Hi , looking for advice. My daughter is 38 and has suffered from severe depression and anxiety since she was 18. She has tried many drugs and seen numerous psychologists to no avail. She lives with us doesn't have a partner or children, rarely goes anywhere except work. She has given up trying, saying nothing can change. I don't know what to do anymore, trying to get her to try again but she says it's pointless. I just deal with each episode of breakdown, not knowing what to say or do, I am exhausted, any advice would be very much appreciated

Re: Lost

Hi @JAKM

Can you please clarify what you want her to "Try again"?

Do you mean dating? Or more medications?

Re: Lost

I would like her to see a psychologist or doctor anything to help her move forward

Re: Lost

Does she want things to change? @JAKM

I hear how exhausting this is for you.

Re: Lost

I am sure she does, she just sees no solution

Re: Lost

It's so hard as a carer. Sometimes we try to 'save' them, but then it may not make them seek help. I hear the dilemma you are in. Have you ever contacted Carer Gateway? https://www.carergateway.gov.au/ @JAKM

Re: Lost

Hey mum of someone who’s unwell,

it’s hard. My mum goes through the same thing with me.

it sounds like your daughter is exhausted and that you are too.

what roles are important to her besides work? Work can sometimes be very draining for neurodiverse people, the cognitive load is huge.

what motivates her? This can be small things like having a good nights rest, a cup of coffee in the morning before work.

what habits are you noticing are positive vs negative?

what is her goal? What does she want to be able to do by working? Yes, we work to make money but what else?
