Your arty baby dragons definitely take after you in that respect Hon. 
The more confident he becomes in himself and his abilities the less he will be likely to need you in the room with him - but enjoy those times together while you can 
Hopefully that strong emotional dependency going on elsewhere will lessen as well. S2 seems like he knows the direction he wants to head in but circumstances are holding him back for the time being - hopefully in time he will gain greater clarity and independence and be able to soar!
