Re: Am Not Coping

Sorry you are still feeling exhausted Hon Smiley Sad but I know that feeling well so laying down for the afternoon sounds like a great idea @Faith-and-Hope I have a feeling I will be doing a lot of that too today. I can't shake this headache today (even with stronger painkillers) - lack of sleep and crying this morning has certainly not helped. Just a day to get through today and see what tomorrow brings (for both of us) Heart

Re: Am Not Coping

Sunday is visit elderly Mum’s day and my partner and I tried to do a little Xmas shopping, unsuccessfully.
My partner had a bad accident and smashed his right knee, also injured his left knee. A few days ago his knees buckled on him so we’ve been getting scans, seeing Drs etc.

Re: Am Not Coping

@Catcakes, my daughter dislocated both knees, three months apart.  The treatment was physio excercises, however her first knee wasn’t recovering.  It turns out that our family are hyper-mobile, meaning we have very elastic ligaments, and without wearing a knee brace to keep her knee properly aligned, the constant misalignment of her knee joint meant it couldn’t repair.

This was the exact opposite of the usual treatment, which says that the knee joint won’t regain its strength if you wear a brace.  It caused a lot of confusion.

There are ways of testing for hyper-mobility to see if this might be the issue with your partner.  My D3’s second knee gave out over having to bear the strain of such a lengthy recovery of her first knee .... but it was all tied into even looser ligaments during teenage growth spurts .... she went from elastic to not being able to hold together.

Re: Am Not Coping

That’s interesting @Faith-and-Hope, I have hypermobile joints.
My partner had a bad motorbike accident in July, four days before we were to move house.😩
He had multiple fractures and a mild head injury. The worst was his right knee, now belt together with metal. He also injured his left knee but nothing was done about it,
A few days ago, he reinsured this knee so he’s pretty down about going back in his recovery.
Anyway.... he’s lucky to be here😊

Re: Am Not Coping

My daughter has had a couple of subluxations since @Catcakes, so while the joints are technically healed, it is vitally important to develop muscle strength in support of hyper mobile ligaments ..... like a counter-weight, but none of my baby dragons are athletically inclined .... unlike their dad .... :face_with_rolling_eyes: .... who is making up for all of them put together .....

Your partner might need ongoing bracing and extra gym work to prevent future re-injury occurrences.  The physio ought to be able to advise you, but the hyper mobility question probably needs to be asked by someone,

Re: Am Not Coping

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope,
Because my partner was in a motorbike accident, he has been very well attended by physios . He attends four times a week and was doing very well at rebuilding muscle strength in his legs. This set back is annoying but he’ll get there👍🏻
