Re: The great yoga adventure

Yes I did child's pose in class on Thursday, & again several times this morning (in class)...

At least that's several child's poses done for this week...

Re: The great yoga adventure

You'll be getting a shirt then @Adge, definitely.

I did a Yang to Yin class this afternoon. We start off quite energetically and then move on to deeper poses that are held for longer. Only five students so that was good. Lots of child poses for me too.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Woo hoo l might get a shirt @soul.

Yang to Yin I'm not familiar with - but my yoga teacher does Yin classes.

She said they have to hold the poses for 3 to 5 minutes - which she jokes about, because it's so long.

That sounds like what you are doing?

They're doing the Tibetan 5 Rites in my classes at the moment, & gradually increasing the number of rounds for each pose.

It's eventually supposed to be 21 rounds of each pose. Thank goodness we don't have to do that many (of each).

Even 5 or 9 rounds of the spinning around (in circles) one leaves me feeling dizzy...

Re: The great yoga adventure

Not familiar with the Tibetan 5 Rites @Adge. Must look that up. We do a lot of series of poses in the Yang part though. Also in Flow classes.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody, I have been a child today, have you? I have been a child every day this week, I just haven't had a chance to jump on here and report in. My big adventure of secret turtle business really filled up my week!

@soul I super can't wait for the presentation of child-pose inspired shirts tomorrow. I want the tee-shirt version. Smiley Happy

@Adge it sounds like you are getting a shirt too - yay!

And I guess @soul you will have to present your own shirt to yourself. Smiley Very Happy

I wonder how many days @TheVorticon ended up being a child for this week???

@Anony18 it is super nice to see you here in our yoga group. Thank you for posting the link about the difference between yoga and pilates. Smiley Happy

@soul I really liked the article you posted about yoga too. Here it is again for anyone who missed it: http://www.abc.net.au/news/health/2017-09-16/yoga-a-beginner-guide/8656236?pfmredir=ms You see @Shaz51, @Mazarita and anyone else who frets about not doing yoga "right". There is no "right". Smiley Very Happy

So...what pose are we going to do this coming week? @soul I know you were thinking you would like to do bridge pose. There are different versions of that aren't there, ranging from not so tricky to a bit more tricky? I don't want to scare people away from having a go, by suggesting anything too difficult. I'm pretty sure there is a variety of bridge poses.

Anyway, I have to keep moving through Forum Land because it is almost already time for me to jump off the computer for the night. Happy yoga-ing. Smiley Very Happy

Re: The great yoga adventure

The Bridge pose sounds good. Or my favourite, the shoulder-stand...

Re: The great yoga adventure

My yoga class today was packed. Never seen so many people. Sometimes we only have five or six students and I like that so much better.

It was @Former-Member who posted the ABC article on yoga. I can't take credit for that. Yes, it is very informative.

Tee shirt, single, sweatshirt presentation tomorrow. A very exciting occasion no doubt.

I reckon we could go with the Bridge Pose. There are a few variations so should be suitable for everyone. Don't know about the handstand @Adge. That's a bit ambitious.

Thanks for continuing this wonderful thread @Phoenix_Rising.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Oopsy @Former-Member sorry for muddling you up with @soul. Smiley Happy

@soul I think @Adge suggested a shoulder stand, not a handstand...but it may still be a little ambitious. Smiley Very Happy How about tomorrow morning I will suss out bridge poses, and then for next week we can think about possible less-tricky alternatives to go with the shoulder pose for the following week? I wonder how many poses there are in yoga. I'm thinking about a bazillion. Do you think we will be able to maintain our momentum long enough to get through all of them in our pose-for-a-week challenges. Smiley Very Happy

Re: The great yoga adventure

Ha - I remember doing shoulder stands in my younger days and adding in the bicycle movement as well. Just remembered that @Phoenix_Rising@Adge
